Lonely Planet

I bought 'Lonely Planet Sydney Encounter' by Amazon for the international conference held in Sydney next week. This is a small version of Lonely Planet, which is very famous guide book for travellers of all over the world. The 'Encounter' is very small and easy to bring in your pocket. I used 'New York Encounter' and 'Barcelona Encounter' and they were very useful.

The most famous guide book in Japan is 'Chikyuu No Arukikata' (地球の歩き方, How to walk around the world). Many Japanese traveling abroad have this guide book, and you can easily distinguish Japanese from Korean or Chinese by this book.

Indeed 'Chikyuu No Arukikata' contains many useful information. And the very important thing is that the outline of this series of guide book is almost same among all versions for various cities or countries. So once you are used to using this guide book, you can easily find any information from other versions.

In fact, I also used 'Chikyuu No Arukikata' in Washington DC, NYC, etc. They are good guide book for Japanese. :)
